Samsung debuts "Cannes" plasma displays
Samsung is tossing in all the PR speak for these new Cannes plasma displays it's busting out. Terms like "Ultra DayLight," "Natural True Color," and "Real Motion Studio" are all well and good, but we're glad to see there are some specs to back 'em up. Both of the new PAVV Cannes displays boast a range of 1,000:1 to 15,000:1 contrast ratios, 18 bit color and blur-free image thanks to that "Real Motion" stuff. Samsung is generous with the sizes as well, offering up 42-inch, 50-inch and 63-inch displays. Unfortunately, while all of these TVs are designed around movies -- they're named after the Cannes Film Festival, after all -- only the 63-inch SPD-63P71FHD looks to support a full 1080p resolution. The SPD-42Q92HD and SPD-50Q92HD also-rans go for 2,100,000 won and 3,400,000 won, respectively ($2,239 and $3,624), while the 63-incher will run you a spankin' 9,000,000 won ($9,594). No word on when exactly these will be hitting the market.

Yes, that's the same woman as before. Hotness! Larger photos please!
Korean women are the new Japanese women.

Samsung likes to use a lot of fancy terms to describe their inferior plasma panels. Just buy a Panasonic or Pioneer and be done with it.
rc @ Feb 28th 2007 1:17PM
Haha. Go Samsung.

sammy is a new comer in plasma market, but i think their panel is as good as panny or pio if not better. one thing that samsung excels in their plasma panels is the power efficiency which is considerably better than both panny & pio...well at least it was when i read eetimes last year
i think 1080p resolution of plasma panels are very rare (haven't seen yet) for under 60" sizes; it seems like lcd is easier to make in high resolution format than plasma. unfortunately, samsung isn't the one who is pushing the higher resolution in the panels
btw, the model on the picture is very attractive; i would get the largest one if the model is included ;)...just kidding

adelossa @ Feb 28th 2007 3:04PM
they might as well sell the woman, because the TV isn't nothing!
Loban @ Feb 28th 2007 3:20PM
"sammy is a new comer in plasma market, but i think their panel is as good as panny or pio if not better."
That statement is just plain wrong, especially the "if not better" part. Samsung plasmas are garbage. They make great LCDs however, at least for PC monitors. If you'd do even the slightest bit of research and read the multiple plasmas reviews all over the interwebs, you'd see immediately the superiority of panasonic and pioneer. You won't see a Samsung on any "top 10 plasma" list anytime soon. Those lists are easily dominated by Panny and Pioneer year after year.

man... I knew white guys have different beauty
standard when it comes to asian women, but
she isn't that sexy at all.
She isn't ugly but sexiest? Hardly.
When my white friend told me he thinks Lucy lui
was beautiful, Ithought he was kidding...seriously.
Come over to Seoul, then I show you some
'beautiful' ladies, and ..
We'll party all night long - Engadget style !
Maybe some lastest gadget shopping after.
if you still want that... :-)

Fo sho Danny... Asian fever is quite funny at times... you beat me to that Lucy Liu statement...
I'd have to say she looks pretty good though. I found that 'korean women are the new japanese women' statement hilarious... first off, get off the anime train... second, Korea just has had a less overt display of chicks compared to Japan's over the top advertisement of 'idols'... I'm not saying one is hotter than the other (cause each of the 3 most recognized Asian nations have their jewels) but China and Japan obviously get more face time with more consumer products, entertainment, sheer population, etc. reaching America... what does your typical American know about/associate with South Korea? Little man Kim? Somewhat crappy history of automobiles? Faulty electronic products? Random references to the majority of Koreans that own various everyday retail stores? In recent times however, Korean products/media of all various types have absolutely dominated the entire Asian theater... just got to know where to look...
Not every Asian chick is the girl from Full Metal Jacket...
Rod @ Mar 2nd 2007 12:05AM
Danny, I'm also an Asian and obviously don't think she's the hottest but i think that she's certainly worthy of being a model.
So what you're telling me that in the good ol' Korea, there have been so many plastic surgeries performed that one can find women that look like that all the time without any trouble?
How common are we talking?
I mean because if you look around a UC campus, there are some nice looking Korean women, but maybe one or two out of the whole school who would be model-worthy.
